Walking along the vast exhibition halls of the Shanghai World Expo, one cannot help but be amazed at the pavilions, and the emerging technologies and applications on display. But even those not part of the showcase can give one reason for pause. At first glance, there is nothing special about the police cars that patrol the expo area. But a closer look reveals an environment-friendly fully electric motor underneath the hood.
